The U.S. Grant Pilgrimage celebrates its 54th Anniversary in 2008. Take part in the fun, activity, and friendship of Scouting with Blackhawk Area Council. The number one annual scouting activity for Cubs, Scouts, Ventures, Varsity, and Explorers. Register early and reserve your campsite soon for the best locations, as space is limited. Then come and take part in the Midwest's biggest and best Scout adventure.
FREE parking is in the Honeywell Parking Lot and the 3 School Lots. We provide shuttle service from these lots down town and back. Other parking lots require parking fees, failure to pay will result in your receiving

In recognition of the efforts of Virginia Carroll and Ruth Turner, founders of the U.S. Grant Pilgrimage, those Scouts who enter and are chosen as essay contest winners can earn a special patch. Write a 300 or more word essay on one of the following subjects: President Grant, One of the Nine Generals, or The City of Galena. Essays MUST be submitted by April 21, 2008.

Memorial Essay Contest
" Brothers from two cultures "
Canoe races will be held on the river by the depot this year. Canoes and equipment will be furnished, so you need only bring your best canoeists.
You will be competing for best time over a preset coarse and there will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. Race times are 9: am to Noon.
New for 2008, there will be Canoe races at
the Grant Pilgrimage, so bring your best Scouts
